Anaheim is the proud home of the Anaheim Ducks, a team in the National Hockey League that won the coveted Stanley Cup in 2007 as well as a total of 6 Pacific Division titles. Anaheim also houses the Major League Baseball Team the Los Angeles Angels, formerly known as the Anaheim Angels, who won the World Series in 2002. Since Disneyland’s opening in 1955 and the addition of the Anaheim Convention Center in 1967, Anaheim’s economy has been primarily based on tourism. In fact, Disneyland Resort alone contributes nearly $5 billion each year to the economy of Southern California at large and maintains its position as Anaheim’s most significant employer by far. However, the city’s economy supports many other forms of industry as well including healthcare, food production, and technology. Behind Disneyland, Anaheim’s largest employers are Kaiser Foundation Hospital, Northgate González Markets, and the Hilton Anaheim.

Education in Anaheim

Due to its size, Anaheim public schools are organized into seven distinct districts with 74 total schools. The city is also home to several private schools of both secular and religious affiliation. Anaheim University and Southern California Institute of Technology are the only two universities officially located in Anaheim, but the city is close in proximity to such major Southern California universities as Chapman University and USC. 

Local Transportation 

Anaheim is within 30 miles of three major airports, making commercial air travel very accessible for Anaheim residents and tourists. Public transit is provided by the Orange County Transportation Authority with routes throughout the county as well as Anaheim-specific routes.
