Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) serves the students of this district and is the second-largest public school district in Nebraska. The University of Nebraska – Lincoln is a highly regarded institution located in the city. It’s a member of the Big Ten Conference, Home of the Huskers, and one of the best public, 4-year universities in the state.

Summers are hot and humid, and winters are cold and, at times, freezing. Rainfall is distributed evenly throughout the year, and you’ll see snow during the winter. July is the warmest month with temperatures of 78.5ºF, and January is the coldest month with temperatures averaging out to 24.2ºF. Annual precipitation averages 27.5 inches of accumulated rain and snow. This area is prone to earthquakes, tornadoes, occasional blizzards, and flooding.
