Delaware is the forty-ninth largest state by area, with a population of 967,171 (U.S. Census Bureau, July 1, 2019). Delaware started as a Dutch colony until England exercised authority in 1664 and claimed it as an English colony. The most recognized cities in Delaware are Wilmington, Dover, and Newark.

Wilmington is located along the Delaware River and has a population of 71,276. Wilmington is home to Brandywine Creek, Delaware Art Museum, and the Brandywine Zoo.
