How Did Rogers Get Its Name?

Rogers was founded in 1881 as a stop on the St. Louis and San Francisco (Frisco) Railroad. The city was named after Captain Charles Warrington Rogers, Frisco Railroad general manager. Rogers was incorporated on June 6, 1881. From the late 1800s through the early 1900s, growth in Rogers was spurred by its abundant orchards. The city had a brick commercial district, concrete sidewalks, public schools, a private academy, and an opera house.
