The World of Golf caters to all levels of golfers. The facility has an 18-hole executive golf course, indoor and outdoor driving ranges, golf simulator, mini-golf, and footgolf. If you have the need for speed, head over to Florence Motor Speedway, a half-mile dirt track that hosts late-model car races, including the North/South 100, The Ralph Latham Memorial, and the Spring 50. The track has a racing program for late models, Hornets, modified cars, and pure-stock cars. Despite its name, the speedway is located in Union, just outside Florence.

Local History

The area was initially called Pow-Wow, then Polecat, after the furs Native Americans brought for exchange. Later it was called Crossroads because the area served as a stop for travelers from Cincinnati and other parts of Kentucky such as Lexington, Louisville, and Maysville. Historians aren’t sure why the city was renamed Florence, but it was officially incorporated in 1830. It’s likely the city was named after its namesake in Italy.
