How Did Everett, WA Get its Name?

A group of East Coast investors, including Henry Hewitt and Charles Colby, developed the town that became Everett. They named it after Colby’s son Everett, a teenager at the time. The investors envisioned an industrial boom town that would have a paper mill, nail factory, and smelter. Work crews began clearing land to develop the new community in 1891. Everett was incorporated in 1893.
